Jesus tells us all throughout scripture that we are to have faith in Him and His promises. Having faith means taking healthy risks. Many Christians believe faith means that God will magically drop His promises in their lap while they sit and wait; that’s not faith, that’s just stupid. When Jesus told us to knock and the door will be opened, that means we are required to do something to receive something.
A promise doesn’t come without a sacrifice. Now i’m not talking about Gods love because that doesn’t require anything of us, i’m talking about Gods promises, there is a difference. Gods love is unconditional, but His promises have conditions. When the Israelites traveled through the desert to go to the promise land, the desert was the sacrifice they had to go through in order to get to where they wanted to go to.
In Matthew 6:26, Jesus said that He will take care of those of us who have faith in Him. That means by trusting solely in God, there’s nothing to worry about because our needs will come to us. Our wants, on the other hand, we have to work for. In Matthew 11:12 [KJV] it says, And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Our promises of God are in heaven and if we want them, we have to fight for them.
God is not going to drop a million dollars, meaningful friendships/relationships, or a successful business down from heaven for you; if you want to see His promises manifest in your life, you have to go after them with diligent faith. If you have not yet received an answer from the door you’re knocking on, keep knocking because if this isn’t the door, the next one will be. The day you stop knocking is probably the day before your breakthrough. In order to receive heavens breakthrough, you need to break through heaven.
