Stepping out of Life’s Black Hole of Depression

A black hole according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is; “A celestial object that has a gravitational field so strong that light cannot escape it.” While a black hole is relating to outer space, I believe that many of us get sucked into black holes in life. A lot of us have bought into the lie that says there’s no way out of our troubles. Sometimes we even stop looking to God because we believe somehow that God can’t even help us. The truth is that there’s no gravitational field so strong that Jesus can’t take you out of it.

The only real black hole is in your mind. If you don’t believe there is a way out, no one, not even God will convince you otherwise. Don’t be overcome by the world, but be overcome by Jesus because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). Coming into agreement with demonic thoughts gives satan authority he was never designed to have. When you say “yes” to the devil, you’re essentially saying “no” to God.

Saying “yes” to God not only destroys depression, but it also heals the sick, raises the dead, and casts out devils. If you feel that you are being sucked into the devils black hole, know that God is more powerful than his attacks. The bigger Gods plan is for your life, the more the devil will throw conflict at you in an attempt to get you to believe that God is a liar. Instead of being sucked into the schemes of satan, we need to be sucked into the Love of God. Nothing, not even the enemy’s black hole can separate you from the love of God. The devils’s black hole is inferior to the name Jesus.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

I too am a Christian who went through severe depression. Indeed the black hole in me was sucking away all sources of hope, even words of assurances from the Bible. Let us praise the Lord who remembered we once loved us, continues to love us when we stop loving him, and loves us until we love him again. How marvellous!
