Some people believe in fate, but I believe the idea of fate is driven by a spirit of poverty. Fate means that life has already been planned for you before you were born and there’s nothing you can do to change it, but destiny means that you have control over how your life goes by the good choices you make. Gods destiny for you is to live life in abundance (John 10:10), not to live with the idea that your life is just something that sort of just happens to you.
I want to make something very clear before I go any further, you are not in control of what happens to you in your life, but you are in control of how you respond to and what you do with what happens to you. How you respond to what happens to you is a key factor that will determine where your life is going to go. Bad things happen to both good and bad people. Why bad things happen more to certain people than others is a complex subject I will not get into, but the point is that you have the ability to choose how happy you’re going to be in your life regardless of your circumstances.
One of the most amazing things about our God is that we don’t need to worry about making anything happen. Your job is to take the initiative and Gods job is to make things happen. Life is like driving a race car around a track blind folded with Jesus as the passenger giving you instructions on where you’re going to go; the only time you crash and burn is when you decide that you know what you’re doing when you’re the one blindfolded.
God hasn’t called you to be in control of your life, he’s called you to take the initiative by getting into the drivers seat and trusting Him to guide you to the “destiny-tion” you would like to go. You may not know where you’re going in life because what’s ahead is unexpected, but when you have faith in God you can be confident that it will be worked together for your good and your increase.
You may be in good hands with Allstate, but you’re in better hands with God
