For most of my life I found myself wondering what the purpose of my life was. Although I was born in a Christian family with great parents who raised me right, I needed to experience God for myself. Then one day in April of 2010, I found myself talking to a customer, named Elizabeth, at my job about miracles.
It turns out that the woman was getting ready to attend the Bethel School of Supernatural ministry. After that moment, I started going back to church, but something was burning inside of me for more. I was not satisfied with only going to church on Sundays and being a good person in my community.
There had to be more to life. At that time, I’d heard about a radical couple named Rolland and Heidi Baker and was blown away by how God was using them to impact people’s lives in profound ways. They are the co-founders of Iris Global, and they’re located in Pemba, Mozambique.
After watching countless YouTube videos of Heidi Bakers’ teachings, I knew I was called to serve the poor. During the summer of 2014, I finally decided to take a leap of faith and go on a two-week trip to Pemba, Mozambique in East Africa.
That trip changed my life. I, along with many others, prayed for the sick and the blind saw, the deaf heard, and many other people were transformed by the love of Jesus. After getting back to my home in California, I felt a strong impression that I needed to get rid of everything I owned, pay off all my credit cards, and leave my home country to serve the poor full time. After two years of preparing, I finally got rid of pretty much everything I own, paid off all my debt, and I went back to Pemba, Mozambique to attend the Harvest School with Iris Global. After graduating from ministry school, I was ready to serve the poor, and I felt that the place would be in Spain.
After living in Spain for three months serving the poor, I felt called to other parts of the world to share Gods power and love with people (If you’d like to know more about my time in Africa or Spain, check out my blogs Two Weeks of Intense Growth in Gran Canaria, Spain, and My First Missions Trip: Pemba, Mozambique.)
Since 2010, God has given me a purpose in my life and I know He’s not finished with me yet. Since 2014, I’ve been writing books not only about my testimony but also about how God has been growing and teaching me how to make a difference in people’s lives (You can check out my books on Amazon.com).
These days I’m creating a fantasy RPG video game that shares the stories of refugees that may never be told. Whether or not this idea I have evolves into something different in the future, I’m not sure, but I don’t hold any idea too tightly. My main purpose in life is to share a message of hope with the world regardless of what avenue that looks like. My wife, Mary Lee, and I (here’s a blog about us) are passionate about helping the marginalized and we have a small house church in Seattle WA. The truth is that those of us who are called to make a powerful impact in this generation are all marginalized; it just looks a little different for everyone.
